The author (most likely Jeremiah) talks about the hardships he has gone through with all of Judah. In verse 22, Jeremiah states that “His (God’s) compassions never fail”. This shows his trust that God is true to his word and will keep his promise. Jeremiah goes on to say “Though he (God) brings grief, he will show compassion”. Verse 40 tells us to “examine our ways and test them.” The author also acknowledges that God is in control of everything. The author talks about many bad things that people did to try to kill him, including putting him in a pit and throwing stones at him.
