1 Why do the nations conspire
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth take their stand
and the rulers gather together
against the LORD
and against his Anointed One.
3 “Let us break their chains,” they say,
“and throw off their fetters.”
4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
5 Then he rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 “I have installed my King [c]
on Zion, my holy hill.”
7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD :
He said to me, “You are my Son [d] ;
today I have become your Father. [e]
8 Ask of me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You will rule them with an iron scepter ;
you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”
10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear
and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry
and you be destroyed in your way,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

1 Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

A long time ago in a land called Israel, there was a Godly man named Othniel
Othniel was a Judge. A Judge was someone told by God to lead Israel.
Israel had once followed God and praised Him.
But the people of Israel started worshipping fake gods and idols.
So God sent in an army from the nation of Mesopotamia to punish the people.
Finally, Israel cried out to God for help. That was why God told Othniel to lead.
Othniel had been in other battles before. He had once defeated a people called the Anakim.
The Mesopotamians were mean to the people of Israel, so Othniel decided to raise/gather an army to fight them.
Othniel had to train the people to be soldiers in secret, so the enemy did not see them.
Othniel also had to make a battle plan.
Othniel and his army then went to war with the Mesopotamians and their leader Cushan-Rishathaim.
Othniel won with God’s help.
Othniel was courageous when he had to do a hard job.
God wants us to show courage in hard times.

God gives Ezekiel a vision in this chapter, which is titled, “Idolatry in the Temple”. Ezekiel describes God from His waist down as fire, and His waist up was as bright as “glowing metal”. God then shows Ezekiel all the evil practices going on in His own Temple. God says that some of the men worshipping idols think that God does not see them (which He does). In verse 18, God says: “Therefore I will deal with them in anger”. We learn two things from this chapter: God can always see what we are doing and we should be careful not to let any thing or person become an “idol”.
